- Special Edition models celebrate history of British design
- Historic London suburbs the inspiration for exclusive styling cues
- SW1 and NW8 special editions to be available in limited numbers
Land Rover has introduced three new Special Edition variants of its award-winning Range Rover Evoque. Drawing inspiration from historically influential neighbourhoods in London, the new models, which will only be available in limited numbers, aim to attract discerning buyers with unique and fashionable cosmetic touches.
The colourful SW1 Colour Special Edition Evoque offers co-ordinated features inside and out, drawing inspiration from South West London. Based on the current Dynamic body style, it will be offered in Firenze Red with a contrast Fuji white roof and gloss Fuji white 20” alloy wheels. Stylish Union Flag graphics, in red, white and blue, feature on the rear spoiler and the white door mirror housings. White tick decals also adorn the bodywork, and the front bumper ‘moustache’ is finished in Santorini Black.
The theme is continued inside the cabin with Ebony leather upholstery, door inserts, arm rests and facia trim picked out with contrast Cirrus stitching. A stand-out anodised red finish is applied to the rotary shift controller and CommandShift™ paddles for the nine-speed automatic transmission. Headrests are finished with tags bearing the Union Flag colour graphic, and this is repeated on the carpet mats. As a finishing touch, the same motif, rendered in monochrome, is etched into the sill plates and vehicle key.
The SW1 Monochrome Special Edition Evoque is a variation on the SW1 Colour, with all styling cues in black, white, and grey. Based on the Pure body style, it will be available only with a Corris Grey paint finish, and Santorini Black contrast roof. Again, Fuji gloss white 20″ alloy wheels and the white tick decals feature, while the Union Jack motif on the rear spoiler and door mirrors is a monochrome variation.
Inside, the SW1 Monochrome is finished in Pure Ebony grained leather. The anodised red rotary control and shift paddles strike an eye-catching contrast inside. Union Jack motifs also feature on the tread plates and keyfob, while the carpet mats are emblazoned with a black-and-white rendition of the British flag.
Both SW1 Special Edition derivatives are currently on sale, with prices starting at R683 900 for the SW1 Monochrome, and R781 800 for the SW1 Colour, excluding CO2 taxes. Only 50 of each will make their way to South African showrooms. Each model is equipped with Land Rover’s 2.2-litre SD4 turbo diesel engine.
In June, these two models will be joined by the NW8, which is based on the Dynamic body style, and draws its styling inspiration from North West London. Only 1 000 units will be built worldwide, with 50 destined for South Africa, and 40 headed to Land Rover’s key sub-Sahara Africa markets.
The exterior of the NW8 is exclusively available in Fuji White paintwork with a unique Firenze Red Contrast Roof and matching rear flip spoiler, as well as red door mirror caps. The Range Rover lettering on the bonnet and tailgate is also given the eye-catching red treatment, while the 20-inch alloys are finished in Gloss Black.
Other exterior items draw styling inspiration from the Black Pack, including the headlights and foglamps, tail-lamps, as well as wing vents and grille finished in Santorini Black. The NW8 is also distinguished by black rather than silver finished bumper inserts.
Customers get an equally distinctive interior with two colourway choices for leather trim: Dynamic Ebony or Ebony/Pimento. Additional subtle finishes include unique embroidered headrests and an anodised Red rotary controller with matching CommandShift™ gearshift paddles.
A unique Evoque graphic sets the NW8 apart from its special edition stablemates. The distinctive motif is inspired by the iconic Abbey Road zebra crossing and adorns the treadplates, seat tags and keyfob.
The Evoque NW8 Special Edition will be offered with both 2.2-litre SD4 turbo diesel and 2.0-litre Si4 turbo petrol engines. Retail pricing is set at R781 800 (SD4) and R786 700 (Si4), excluding CO2 taxes.
