- Land Rover Discovery Sport SD4 SE recognised as best leisure vehicle in South Africa
The Land Rover Discovery Sport SD4 SE was recognised as the best leisure vehicle in its class at the Cars.co.za Consumer Awards, recently. Land Rover’s latest addition to the Discovery family was judged on performance, practicality, space, comfort, in-car entertainment systems and capabilities on terrains.
Introduced locallyin 2015, the Discovery Sport brought to market 5+2 seating and versatility in a package as compact as its five-seat competitors. Buyers in the segment are now able to enjoy Land Rover’s legendary breadth of capability – a blend ofexcellent on-road agility and comfort, with unparalleled off-road through technologies such as Terrain Response®.
“Discovery Sport has been tremendously popular since launch. Consumers have shown that there is strong demand for a vehicle that has the capability and versatility to complement their lifestyles,” said Richard Gouverneur, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and sub-Sahara Africa. “This award is also quite special, knowing that the winners were determined using feedback from owners, in addition to the expert motoring and consumer judges. This attention to detail and use of data brings credibility to these awards.”
The panel comprised seasoned motoring journalists from the Cars.co.za editorial team as well as well-known consumer journalists Wendy Knowler, Songezo Zibi, and Branko Brkic. Feedback from these judges helped narrow down the competitors from five semi-finalists per category, to three finalists. Also included in the finalists were the Range Rover SDV8 Autobiography, in the First Class category, and the Range Rover Sport SDV6, in the Premium SUV category.
The final piece of information used to judge winners was data from an ownership survey, conducted in conjunction with automotive industry data experts Lightstone Auto. This gave a complete view of the vehicle ownership experience, including sales, after-sales, running costs and resale value.
