Having thoroughly impressed the CAR team when we tested it for the December 2012 issue, the ST overcame three much-vaunted rivals in the shape of the Renaultsport Megane 265 Red Bull edition, the Opel Astra OPC and BMW M135i when CAR track-test ace Deon Joubert  and renowned British journalist Chris Harris joined us for the 2013 Performance Shootout. It may not be the most powerful hot hatch, but it puts its power down on variable road surfaces with aplomb and offers excellent everyday usability at a very attractive price.
